A bit dated in the writing style, but still full of good ideas for the lonely warrior ;)
Great book.
Classic for any wargamer. Softcover perfect.
Some good ideas but seems limited to mostly historical campaigns no mention at all of Sci-fi campaigns
Other than Donald Featherstone's wonderful British understatement humor, I found this book a little boring in terms of new ideas. Unfortunately I hear Mr Featherstone has passed away and I do see him as a very important in the field of wargaming, and I agree completely with his feelings about the advantages of solo war gaming and the dreadful disadvantages of playing a real opponent. I was however expecting better pictures. The wargames pictures in the book are all black and white and somewhat faded as well-hard to see even in paperback. I was also expecting more ideas about how to make the solo wargamer less omnicient so as to simulate a real battle better. In these latter two areas I was disappointed.
Interesting read.
