I have read all of the 5 Witness series by Forstner and have thoroughly enjoyed them. So it is strange to read this book by the same author. -- it is almost as if some one else wrote it. (I had exactly the same feeling after reading Golden Threads.). The dialogue was at times stilted, the rush into love (lust) too fast to be believable. The main character was beyond stupid. I had the bad guy figured out from the beginning; no, I'm not brilliant, it was just so obvious. And yet, the "leading lady" ignored the obvious and plowed straight into some really bad decisions because of it. If this was the first I had read by this author, I would probably not read more by her. Fortunately that is not so. I recommend skipping this type and stick with her legal thrillers. At least for the Witness series the characters are slowly developed and believable, the suspense is real and the mystery is really mysterious!Product details

I definitely like the lawyer/witness series much better. It was still a good story! I might try reading another, but I still have another "witness" book to read!
Not one of my better reads, predictable if anything. I have read so many good books lately, that this one was a bit tedious. . I didn't even recommend it to my husband.
this book started out a bit slow as it got along it had become more interesting, some strange characters but ok
Rebecca Forster has become my new favorite author. I've downloaded every book I can find of hers off the list --- and I love them! She writes great thrillers.
Intrigue and romance wound so effortlessly together. So typical of Rebecca Forster. Once started you can't put it down. Excellent
I read this book after I had just finished the four books of the Witness series, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This book was quite a disappointment. I don't know when it was originally written, but I hope it's one of the author's early works. I didn't care for the writing style with its overabundance of descriptive adjectives where none were needed, and the plot was a bit lame as well. But mostly I was annoyed by the description of Hungary. Hungary is an independent country since 1989 and a member of the European Union. It is NOT an East bloc country with a communist government.
I gave this book two stars - one because I actually managed to finish it and the other one for the fact that I didn't spend a fortune on it as it only cost 98 cents in the version.
This is one of those stories that keep you wondering until the end. There is a lot of emotion, suspense and romance. Rebecca Forster writes the best stories and I am on a mission to read them all. The Witness series introduced me to this fine author and while waiting for the next in the series I decided to read each book she has ever written. I am loving each and every one. This is a must read.
